Stout Architecture, LLC specializes in the historic restoration and renovation of commercial and residential projects. These projects require a high level of attention to the existing construction techniques and materials used. Water intrusion into these buildings is usually the most problematic issue for historic buildings. We closely examined the building to identify where water is entering through failing sealants, mortar, or flashing. In Louisiana, one of the most significant issues we see is in load-bearing masonry buildings, where masonry walls wick water up from groundwater into the brickwork and then into the building, causing plaster issues. Since each building has unique issues, we assess each building and identify the best solutions to address the specific issues and extend the life of these historic buildings.
